This photo was made at the Cerro Tololo Inter-American Observatory (CTIO) that is located approximately 500 km north of Santiago, and 80 km to the east of La Serena, Chile, at an altitude of 2200 meters.

The shining stripe of the Milky Way dominates at night, but unfortunately one third population of the Earth can’t see this beauty because of light pollution of the sky.

But here in Atacama Desert  you can enjoy all the beauty of the primeval sky.
